Attitude Tips

The best advice anyone ever gave to me was to learn to not pay attention to the negative voices. And they are everywhere, most often from ourselves. We need to learn to speak nicely to ourselves. Try to catch yourself in this negative pattern of being overly critical or too hard on yourself. Control your internal dialogue. Your thoughts become your words, your words become your actions, your actions control who you are. Overcome the negative internal dialogue that plagues you with regards to starting exercise.

Try to avoid judging others and comparing yourself to others. You will never be happy if you are constantly looking over your shoulder at someone else’s body or if you are constantly looking at models or celebrities in the pages of all the fashion magazines. There will always be someone thinner, more toned or buff. Do your best and love your body. We all have different genetics so we can only create and be the best version of ourselves. Be the best version of yourself! Love your body for what it can do and does for you on a daily basis; it’s a pretty cool machine! Take care of it.

A big part of life is showing up, continually and consistently. And showing up could just mean committing yourself to doing 10 minutes of exercise, some basic stretching, or going for a walk. How many times have we talked ourselves out of working out or made excuses why we can’t before we even try. Just show up, that is the biggest part of being a success. Too many people talk about showing up when they need to stop talking about all the plans of showing up and just do it. Just show up. There is a tremendous sense of accomplishment with being fit and taking care of yourself. Don’t focus on what others want you to do or what they will think. Do things for yourself. At the end of the day, it’s all between you and yourself and no one else. You contain the power to make the choices to help yourself. Show up.

Focus on how adding movement into your life can make you feel so much better. Notice how your mood improves, or that you sleep better, or that you have more energy or that your sex life improves or that your body feels stronger. Learn to enjoy the process rather than just one specific end goal. Let this motivate you to add exercise into your life as a lifestyle choice and not a short term program.
